LANDLORD RESPONSIBILITES

Lead Disclosure

  • Provide EPA Lead Disclosure before lease signing.

  • Share any known lead hazards.

  • Provide the Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home pamphlet.

Lead-Safe Maintenance

  • Promptly repair deteriorated paint

  • Use lead-safe work practices

  • Cover bare soil

Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP)

  • Any work that disturbs paint in a pre-1978 residential building must be performed by an RRP EPA-Certified Firm.

Is participation really free?

Yes. Eligible properties receive federally funded lead hazard reduction work at no cost to the owner. 

Will tenant have to move out?

​

Sometimes temporarily relocation is necessary during certain repairs. Our staff coordinates the process and assists households. 

Can vacant units qualify?

​

Vacant properties that will be rented to eligble families may qualify.

What kinds of repairs are covered?

Examples include windows, doors, siding, trim, porches, soil treatment, paint stabilization, and more.

How long does it take?

​

Most projects move through 8 steps from application to a safe, lead free home in about 4 months.
